Colombo Social is now feeding Sydney’s vulnerable communities

While ‘Colombo Social: Lankan Bar & Kitchen’ is temporarily closing down our restaurant, Colombo Social as a Social Enterprise Kitchen is just getting started!

Like all venues we are monitoring all Government updates and will be open again, with some exciting new additions to our menu, as soon as possible, but during this crisis we are here to help those who need us. These are challenging times for us all and our thoughts are with all our amazing customers.

We are turning our restaurant into a production kitchen in an effort to feed the most at-risk members of our community during this difficult time.

During this pandemic, so many of the most vulnerable members of our community are facing it tough and we all need to help.

As such our #plateitforward campaign has evolved to serve the needs of those most at risk in our community as identified through our charity partners including Mission Australia and Settlement Services International.

This project kickstarted last week and we have managed to donate over 1,000 meals to those identified as the most at risk which include the Elderly Aboriginal community in Redfern, those in social housing in Camperdown, asylum seekers across Sydney and others.

We have brought together a team of talented chefs and experienced restaurateurs* to produce high quality food and to ensure this project is a success.

But we can’t do this alone.

Feeding Sydney's Vulnerable

HOW YOU CAN HELP

We are looking for donations (large or small) to help purchase the much-needed supplies to feed our target of 50,000 vulnerable people.

We are also looking for a large under-utilised kitchen space to ramp up production, and distribution/transport networks to get our food to those in need.

If you think you can help, drop a line to pedro@colombosocial.com.au, shaun@colombosocial.com.au or donate below.

Now is the time to come together, whilst being kept apart, and to do what we can to look out for our neighbours. Together we can showcase the positive aspects of human nature that a crisis brings to light. We want to showcase the true Australian spirit, not hoarding toilet paper, but the kindness, generosity and caring nature that typifies all Aussies, new and old.
